  • description: .We were expecting on Joey coming home in about another month.Joey's doctors have said his progression is great so it is going to be within the next two weeks. We need to get an apartment ASAP, but don't have the funds for the deposit or security. If we do not get a apartment we can loose Joey and my older son Benny.I am really scared and I don't know what else to do, or where to turn to.We have applied for welfare and were approved for medicaid and food stamps, but were turned down for cash assistance.Even with Jay getting a new job its impossible, because he don't get paid for at least 2 more weeks. Our families can not help anymore than they have.I tried salvation army and catholic charities and others(which I was kind of depending on in the first place)they are all out of funds. Please help our family stay together. We have been threw so much already.Thank you.

From purplefairyfl: This is the most recent I have written in a long time!! As many of you know my story, our family has just moved to Ohio. We have a nice 2 bedroom apartment and the only problem is we had to do all the painting and fixing. Joey has been moved from room to room so he wouldn't smell the fumes. Well our one problem is we do not have much furniture. Our living room is ok, but Jay and I are sleeping on a air bed and there is no dressers or bed for my older son Benny. Benny won't be here till at least Christmas time. Things are finally looking up for us and I just want to have a happy family. We also do not have a computer desk so we are using out kitchen table for one. We also do not have blankets or sheets for us or Joey. Joey has one and I wash it by hand every few days. We would also need a microwave, but that's not too important. Please if anyone out there can help I would pay it forward as soon as I can. I have tried other web sites and so far nothing. this is my last chance and I am desperate!! 10/11/2008 12:24:14 AM
From purplefairyfl: This is the begining of Joeys Story if you would like more please so to my myspace and look at all the blogs i even have updates and I will write as much as I can!! http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=34583888 March 18, 2008: Joseph Angelo Risner was born. He was born at 29 weeks due to a huge cyst that complicated things. I had him threw a c-section and they had to remove my left ovary and fallopian tube because the cyst was about just bigger than a grapefruit and infused in the fallopian tube and engulfed the ovary, it also had its own blood supply. He was 3.3lbs 15 1/2 inches. He is now in NICU. He is on a ventilator and is stable. Jay and I are staying is Jacksonville until he can come home. He is now 3.1LBS and started to have a slight fever today. Jay and I have been very busy with him and its been very hard. There have been ups and downs already. Joey is strong and is now eating much better and hopefully will soon be off the ventilator. I have yet to hold him and its all I want. He is soo tiny. March 25, 2008: Joey is off the vent and for now that's great the doctors said we are not out of the woods yet, but he is doing good. He aslo is eating 14ml every 3 hours. Today has been a happy day so far!! March 29, 2008: Joey is doing really good he is tolerating 26ml of formula now. He most likely will be taken off the IVs by Saturday. He is very fussy and had to be braced so his O2 wouldn't drop too much. His color is really good. He has grown even more he is at 3lbs 8oz . He is doing great thanks to all your prayers and blessings. THE BEST IS: I got to hold him tonight for the first time. He is sooo tiny I was so afraid at first. He was moved to an incubator which is a step up for him and he is on the cpap with just room air. April 6, 2008: Well there is good and bad news. Joey has gained alot of weight he is at 3.14 and his breathing is great. The only problem is his hear rate keeps dropping and today so far it happened 3x. As for now we are not aloud to hold him and he must stay in the incubator until it levels. I am requesting a cardio doc tomorrow when i see is normal doc. I also requested every time his heart rate drops to call me April 8, 2008: Well the roller coaster ride is starting up again. Joey is now back on the CPAP. His heart rate dropped about 10x last night. They tried to up his dose of caffeine, but it did not work. We went to see him last night about 2am and we have been there today. So far the CPAP has been working and so far no more drops in his heart rate. April 10, 2008: Joey is doing much better and is still on the CPAP, but he is now weighing 4.1 lbs. I started kangarooing with him again and it is once a day for an hour he can be out of the incubator. I talked with his doctor and she is now saying Joey might not be able to come home till mid June, which is ok by me b/c he will be on a few monitors at home. I have been doing a little bit better just tired and exhausted. April 16, 2008: Joey is doing better he is at 4lbs and 8oz. Yes alot bigger now. He is still having problems with his lungs and heart. I have been trying to be up there at the hospital as much as possible now b/c he isn't on any machines for breathing anymore just monitors, and high pressured O2. They had to put him on some meds to get rid of the excess fluid around his heart and lungs to help him breath better. I have been so tired and so has Jay April 23, 2008: Joey is gaining weight almost up to 5lbs now !! He is still having low O2 saturating and a few bradys a day. He will not be able to come home until he is brady free for 5 days in a row. He is still on tube feeding (now threw the nose and it was just in the mouth). His respirations are still too fast to bottle feed. April 30, 2008: Well Joey did not have a good day. He was desaturating his O2 with his first bottle feed in the morning. Then he had a brady (heart rate dropped below 100) while I was feeding him. Then he continued to brady about 3x in the day. Dad tried to feed him tonight and he did not want to drink out of the bottle so they had to tube feed him. He was crying alot too so we stayed longer than usual until he went to bed. I called the hospital and said he has been asleep since we left. I just can't seem to sleep tonight. Tomorrow he has PT in the morning about 10:30am then another bottle feed I hope it was just an off day and all goes well. May 7, 2008: Well we talked to the head nurse and now Joey has a sign on his bed and front of his chart NO TAPE ON FACE!! They are now using the small circle band-aides which are not making sores or blisters. We also had a very good night with him and he is now 6lbs 4oz May 9, 2008: I have been really stressed out. Joey has not finished any of his bottle feedings in a few days. He actually lost weight and is about 5lbs 14 oz now. He has just been too tired to keep drinking he will finish about an oz then he has to have the rest tubed. As he was feeding today his heart rate dropped to almost 30 so now we are at day one. He also had to be put on diuretic to help his breathing and heart. May 13, 2008: Joey is now being bottle fed 2x then he gets his tube feeding, but I think the nurses are pushing him a bit. He drank 2 out of 3 bottles today and bradied on his last and did not finish his 60 ml he did 1/2 and the rest was tubed. He did loose some weight and I am concerned if they push him too far he will get too tired I am talking to the doc tomorrow. May 15, 2008: They put Joey on high pressured O2, and raised the amount to 2leters from1.5. They are also thinking about cutting his bottle feeds to once a day. We have scheduled classes for preemie CPR and one on how to read the monitors. We were told when he comes home he will need O2 and heart monitors May 18, 2008: We were staying at the Ronald MacDonald House that is just next door to the hospital, but our 60 days was up on 05/16/08 and we had to leave for a week. My Sister just got us a motel room for the week but now we need help with gas to get back and forth to the hospital and food. We will need to make 2-3 round trips per day for a week in a 2003 Chevy Cavalier. I have nowhere else to turn. My family has done all they can do to help me. We need to be with him and bond. We also can't be far away in case of an emergency. We have a place to stay now, we just need help getting back and forth to the hospital until we are back in the Ronald McDonald House. May 20, 2008: I just got home. I called the Ronald MacDonald house to see if there were any updates. Manya said the second floor was still closed but there working to get us in ASAP we might have to find somewhere to stay for a few more days than expected. Also our food stamps are almost out and we still have laundry to do ours and Joey's. I am starting to become hopeless I have no clue what to do anymore. Evey where I call there are no funds at this time. May 21, 2008: I went to the hospital today from here at the hotel that we are now staying at. Joey is still on high pressure O2. His sats and hear rate have been good. Joey is now at 6lbs 12oz and still growing. He is also on every feed as a bottle and is not doing to well has not taken a whole bottle yet since the change. They took out his tube last night and he didn't finish 2 of his feeds and they let it go and did not put the tube back till like his 3rd feed. After that they put the tube back in. 10/11/2008 12:22:40 AM
