About Us

Marblejars was founded in March of 2007 by CEO and Founder Robert O’Dell, along with help from his wife and two children. The idea spawned from a dream, and in actuality, Marblejars is totally unique in design and function. it's the first site of its kind and allows members to upload videos and place them into categories. Each video is connected or associated with a marblejar. The member sets a goal for the jar by creating a limit to how many marbles the jar can hold. The jar has a shelf life of one year, or until the user cashes out the contents of the jar (or the jar reaches its goal). The jar can hold a maximum of one million marbles. Each marble equals one U.S. dollar.

After our users place their video in a category, they can go out and promote it and try and drive traffic to it using the "embed" link or "send to a friend" feature. The more people that see their video, the better chance they have at filling their jar!

Visitors to the site and members alike can purchase marbles to give them to users using our very cool "give marbles" feature on each video's page. There are no membership fees for users that only want to give marbles. This means that people all over the world can come and donate money to causes that impact them, or to people they feel a personal connection to. Some videos will touch you, some will make you laugh, some may make you angry; but in the end, hopefully all of them will entertain you. Everyone can watch videos on Marblejars for free.

To often in today’s society we are bombarded with all of these causes that need help, without any real knowledge of whom we are helping. The videos here at Marblejars give you the opportunity to actually see the individual asking for help. This eliminates the guesswork of trying to figure out who is going to benefit from your giving. Just browse the videos until you see someone that you feel connected with -- and give some marbles. You just might make a huge difference in that person's life!

Marblejars is in its infancy and will surely grow. We built this community for our users and for us. We want to give back. It's a humanitarian effort and we hope that Marblejars will be one of the leaders in the online video space. So if you want something or know someone who wants something that they just can’t afford, sign up at Marblejars to get a jar and upload your video asking our community for help. Don't forget to spread the word and promote yourself too, that's the best way to fill up your jar! Ask for help, and you just might be surprised at how many giving people there are out there.

We've found that there are people out there that desperately want to help others but just don’t know how to approach them or how to help. And many people are discouraged by the typical large "so-called non-profit" organizations out there. That's where Marblejars comes in. We provide the medium where the people that need help can meet people who want to give it. We help make that personal connection and those who give can see exactly what their money is being used for!
